RIBBON CUT TO CELEBRATE COMPLETION OF OCEAN-FRIENDLY GARDEN AT L.A. COUNTY FIRE STATION 171 IN INGLEWOOD
Tuesday, December 6, 2011 - Director Gloria Gray, Inglewood Mayor James Butts, Council Member Eloy Morales, Fire Chief Daryl Osby and many others helped celebrate the opening of the Fire Station's new ocean-friendly garden. On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, West Basin Board President Ronald C. (Ron) Smith accepted the prestigious PRism award from the Public Relations Society of America, Los Angeles Chapter, at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood. West Basin's Water Reliability 2020 Program won the Community Outreach award and the overall "Best in Show" award competing against all other award submissions for 2011. See us in "The Sizzle Reel." West Basin's water recycling facility had a small part in the "Dam This City" episode of the History Channel's Inspector America program with Timothy Galarnyk. The program also tells an interesting story about the water situation in Lake Mead and the City of Las Vegas. FREE TOURS - SEE HOW WATER IS MADE
Visit the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility on the second Saturday of each month for a FREE public tour of the water recycling process. Closed-toe shoes are required. Tour begins promptly at 9:30am and lasts approximately 2 hours. Children age 7 and older are welcome with a parent or chaperone. Visit the public tours page for more information.
