Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility – El Segundo
This free field trip experience is available to public and private schools located in the West Basin service area. Students will virtually visit the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in El Segundo and the Roundhouse Aquarium in Manhattan Beach where they learn about the water cycle, West Basin’s state-of-the-art water recycling process and water conservation efforts that protect local marine animals. Students will be immersed in live interaction with a West Basin tour guide as they are virtually brought behind the scenes to a world-renowned water recycling facility.
Virtual field trips are available by request to school and youth groups throughout the summer time.
Reservations are now closed the 2020-2021 school year. To be placed on the waiting list for next school year or request a summer program, please contact West Basin Education Coordinator Janel Ancayan at (310) 660-6253 or JanelA@westbasin.org. Reservations will open in the Fall of 2021.
To support an extensive water education program, West Basin is offering a free curriculum for 3rd-5th grade teachers to support classroom engagement before and after your water recycling facility tour. Lesson plans are intended to be hands-on, can be adapted to support any grade level, and supports the state’s current Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
