West Basin Summer Splash Virtual Water Education Series

West Basin is hosting a series of interactive virtual education programs throughout the summer.  A full listing of programs and schedules is provided below. All webinars will be live-hosted by West Basin staff or in partnership with other subject matter experts, and participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions during and after each presentation. NOTE: Space is limited and waitlists are currently unavailable, so please sign up as soon as possible. 

Lunch & Learn Webinars

Participants are encouraged to eat lunch at their homes or offices while enjoying the live webinar, West Basin staff will cover local and regional water issues, the District's efforts to secure and provide high-quality water supplies, and available programs for service area residents.

Virtual Public Tours of Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility

Participants will have the opportunity to see the inner-workings of a water treatment facility and will learn about the five different types of customer-specific water produced by the District.

Opportunity Drawing for Participants 

Residents who attend both a "Lunch & Learn" webinar and a virtual tour of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility will receive a West Basin certificate and will be entered into an opportunity drawing for a chance to win one of the following three prizes. 

  • $200 Garden Consultation from Armstrong Garden Centers
  • $100 Gift Card to Armstrong Garden Centers
  • $50 Gift Card to Armstrong Garden Centers

Fire-Resistant Landscaping Webinars

Participants will learn how to use fire-resistant plants that are strategically planted to resist the spread of wildfire. Fire resistant plants are also often drought tolerant, which helps conserve water.

Virtual Field Trips and Online Student Resources

West Basin’s education team has developed alternative programming and resources to help bridge the gap between in-person instruction and distance learning.  

AVAILABLE NOW

  • By request, virtual field trips of West Basin's Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility are available to schools and other youth organizations (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.). Virtual field trips are live-hosted by West Basin staff and are intended as an alternative to in-person field trip. These events also support teachers conducting synchronous distance learning with their classrooms.
  • Water Education At-Home Toolkit that provides activities and lessons that helps shape students to become water stewards.
