Two student artist entries from the West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin) service area were recognized by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) as winners of the regional art contest competition with their artwork featured in the 2024 “Being Water Wise Is…” calendar.
Selected by MWD from a competitive regional pool, students Ava Steins from Culver City High School in Culver City and Dagny Tang from Montemalaga Elementary School in Palos Verdes Estates joined 34 regional student artists in a virtual recognition ceremony on Dec. 14.
The entries by Steins and Tang were first selected by West Basin as part of its 2023 student art contest conducted in the spring. West Basin advanced the entries to the MWD competition to compete against dozens of submissions from other member agencies.
